WickedPad: Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 2026-04-20

WickedPad (the "App") is a private journal operated by Peppertree. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information, including the one banner ad that keeps the App free.

The App has no user accounts and no server of its own. Your journal entries never leave your device through anything we run. The only data collected from your device is collected by the advertising software described below.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Journal entries (title, text, mood tag, note-to-self), streak counts, the daily reminder time and your onboarding choice. They are stored locally on your device only. We run no server that receives them, and we cannot read them.

Information Collected Through Advertising

The App shows one banner ad at the bottom of the entry list on the home screen, served by Google AdMob. The entry editor and the entry detail screen never show ads. To serve and measure ads, Google's advertising software inside the App may collect from your device:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (the iOS IDFA or the Android advertising ID), or another device identifier if you have not allowed use of the advertising identifier
  • Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and tapped
  • An approximate location derived from your IP address
  • Diagnostic data such as crashes and performance

Google collects and processes this information under its own policies, not ours. The ad software never receives your journal entries, and we do not link what it collects to anything in the App, because the App has no name, email address or account for it to be linked to. How Google uses data from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • No name, email, phone number or account data. The App has no sign-in.
  • No contacts, photos, camera or microphone access, and no precise location.
  • No analytics SDK of our own.

Other Automatically Collected Information

  • Install, crash and platform telemetry that Apple and Google may collect through the App Store and Play Store, governed by their own privacy policies.
  • Crash and diagnostic reports from the operating system, only if you have opted in to share them with developers in your device settings.

Your Choices About Ads

  • Consent form (EEA and UK). Where the law requires it, Google's consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) appears before any ad loads and asks whether ads may use your data.
  • App Tracking Transparency (iPhone). The system prompt asking whether the App may track you across other companies' apps and websites appears only after the consent step allows it. If you decline, you keep the whole App and see less relevant ads.
  • Device settings. You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier in your device's privacy settings at any time.

How We Use Information

  • To store and show your journal, streaks, monthly recap and the on-device note-to-self. The note is chosen from fixed templates on your device, with no AI service and no network request.
  • To schedule the optional daily reminder as a local notification.
  • To show the banner ad that keeps the App free.
  • To answer support requests you send us by email.

We never sell, rent or trade your journal, because we never receive it.

Third-Party Services

The App includes two third-party services: Google AdMob (the banner ad) and Google User Messaging Platform (the consent form). It includes no separate analytics SDK and takes no payments. Apart from the ad requests above and the standard crash and diagnostic reporting your operating system may send to Apple or Google, the App sends nothing out. Opening the Privacy Policy, Terms or Contact page from Settings loads apps.peppertree.so in your browser.

Data Storage and Security

  • Journal data is stored locally in the App's private storage on your device, using the platform's key-value storage. It is not encrypted by the App.
  • The App does not sync to any cloud service. On iPhone, app data may be included in your own device backup (iCloud or a computer) if you have turned backups on. On Android, the App is excluded from Auto Backup and device-to-device transfer.
  • Deleting the App removes the journal data stored on your device. Deleting an entry removes that entry.
  • Data collected by Google is retained under Google's policies.

Notifications

  • The daily reminder is scheduled entirely on your device. We ask for notification permission only when you turn the reminder on, never at launch. If you decline, the App works without reminders. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's settings.

Your Rights

  • Access: open the App and read your entries.
  • Delete one entry: delete it from its detail screen. Delete everything: delete the App from your device.
  • Export: Settings → Export my journal shares all entries as plain text through the system share sheet, to wherever you choose.
  • We hold no personal data on our servers, so there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf.
  • To exercise rights over data Google holds, use your Google account and device privacy controls, or the consent form where it applies.

Children's Privacy

WickedPad is designed for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (US) or 16 (EU).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
