Maum: K-Style Self Tests
Last updated: October 28, 2026

Summary

Your answers never leave your device. Maum has no accounts and no servers of our own. The app is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. Starting with version 1.3.0 it also sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports through Google Firebase, so we can see which parts of the app work and fix what breaks.

What Stays On Your Device

Quiz answers, results, and streaks are stored locally using shared preferences. This data is never sent to Peppertree. If you enable iCloud on your device, it may sync via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store under your own iCloud account, still never to us.

Advertising

Maum shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve them, Google may collect and process:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android)
  • Coarse usage and ad-interaction data (impressions, clicks, approximate location derived from IP)
  • Diagnostic data from the ads SDK

Google acts as an independent controller for this data. Their practices are described at Google's Privacy & Terms and how Google uses data from apps that use its services.

We do not receive your advertising identifier, and we do not combine ad data with your answers, which we never collect in the first place.

Usage Statistics and Crash Reports (version 1.3.0 and later)

Maum uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, to learn which parts of the app people use and to fix crashes. They are not used for advertising, and Firebase does not collect your advertising identifier in Maum.

What is sent

  • Anonymous usage events: finishing or skipping the intro, starting a test, finishing it, leaving it before the end (and after which question), sharing a result, opening a suggested pairing, turning on the daily reminder, changing the app language, and opening the app from the reminder
  • Which test those events belong to (for example "burnout")
  • Basic technical information that comes with these services: app version, operating system version, device model, country or region, language, and an app-instance identifier that is not linked to your name or any account
  • Crash reports when the app stops unexpectedly: the technical error, app and system version, and device model

What is never sent

  • Your answers to any question
  • Your scores, result types or result cards
  • Your name, email address or any account data (Maum has no accounts)

Consent. Usage statistics start only after the consent step on first launch. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland and you do not consent, usage statistics stay off. Crash reports are sent in every region because they are needed to keep the app working. Firebase processes this data on our behalf under Google's Firebase terms.

Your Choices

  • iOS tracking prompt (ATT): iOS may ask whether Maum may track you across apps. If you decline, no advertising identifier is shared and you still see ads, just non-personalized ones.
  • EEA / UK consent: if you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, a Google consent form appears on first launch. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Ad Privacy Options; the change also applies to usage statistics.
  • Device controls: you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings at any time.
  • Deletion: to ask us to delete usage data tied to your app-instance identifier, email us with your app version and device model.

What We Still Do Not Collect

  • No account registration
  • No quiz answers or results on any server
  • No contact information

Children

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
