Information We Collect

J-Mapcode: Japan Map Converter is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information:

Local Data Storage: Your conversion history is stored locally on your device only
Limited Server Data: We do not ask for your name, email, or an account. Our server does record the technical data described under "Data Transmission" below
No Account Required: The app does not require user registration or login

Your conversion history remains on your device and is never shared
No user accounts or personal profiles are created
Server request logs are not used to create user accounts or profiles, and are not shared with advertisers

J-Mapcode: Japan Map Converter displays advertisements through Google AdMob to support free access to the app.

Ad Data: AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data to serve relevant ads
Ad Personalization: You may opt out of personalized ads through your device settings
Third-Party Ad Networks: AdMob may share data with third-party ad networks as described in Google's Privacy Policy
App Tracking Transparency (iOS): On iOS 14.5+, you will be asked for permission before any tracking for ad purposes

J-Mapcode: Japan Map Converter uses analytics services to understand how the app is used and to improve it.

Services: Google Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, and Meta (Facebook) App Events
Data Collected: App usage events (such as conversions performed and features used), device information (model, OS version, language), and anonymous device identifiers
Not Collected: Names, email addresses, or accounts; your conversion history never leaves your device
Purpose: Measuring feature usage, diagnosing crashes and performance issues, and measuring ad campaign conversions

When you perform address-to-Mapcode conversions:

Address data is sent to our API server for processing
The server uses third-party geocoding services to convert addresses
Your search text, the resulting address and coordinates, and technical request data (IP address, approximate country derived from the IP address, device platform and app version, browser/app user agent, language, and request time) are recorded in server request logs
Conversion results may be cached on our server to improve performance
Request logs are kept for 90 days and then deleted. We use them to run and secure the service, fix errors, control costs of paid geocoding calls, and count usage
To speed up results, the server keeps a cache of search text and the matching address and coordinates. The cache is not linked to an IP address or device and is kept until we remove it
Each request may also trigger an internal notification to our operations team that includes the search text, country, and IP address

J-Mapcode: Japan Map Converter uses the following third-party services:

Geocoding APIs (Geoapify, Google Places): To convert addresses and place names to coordinates. Our server sends your search text to these services. Your IP address is not sent to them. See their privacy policies
Mapcode data providers (japanmapcode.com, mapion.co.jp): To look up Mapcodes. Our server sends coordinates and your app's user agent and language settings. Your IP address is not sent
Google AdMob: To display advertisements. AdMob may collect device information and usage data for ad serving and measurement. See Google AdMob Privacy for details.
Google Firebase Analytics: To measure app usage and ad campaign conversions. See Google Privacy Policy.
Amplitude: To analyze feature usage and retention. See Amplitude Privacy Notice.
Meta (Facebook) App Events: To measure installs and in-app actions attributed to our ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may receive device identifiers and app events. On iOS, advertising identifiers are used only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. See Meta Privacy Policy.

This section covers the jmapcode.com website. The website has no accounts, forms, or advertising.

Google Analytics 4: Measures page views and interactions such as scrolling and outbound link clicks. It sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_<ID>) and receives browser and device information, the referring page, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Advertising features are turned off. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are measured without analytics cookies.
Cloudflare Web Analytics: Counts visits and page performance in aggregate, without cookies.
Hosting and fonts: The site is served by Cloudflare and loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your IP address reaches those providers when you open a page.
Your choices: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
