Faderoll: Privacy Policy

Faderoll (the "App") is operated by Peppertree. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information, including the ads that keep the App free.

The App has no user accounts and no server of its own. Your photos, your film choice, your shooting streak and your film unlocks stay on your device. The only data collected from your device is collected by the advertising software described below.

Camera and Photos

The App uses the camera to show a live film-filtered viewfinder on supported devices and to take the photos you shoot. Photos are processed on your device, saved to a "Faderoll" album in your photo library and kept in the App so the in-app gallery can show them. They are never uploaded to us. Photos leave your device only when you share one yourself. No ad is shown on the camera screen.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Photos you take, stored on your device and in your photo library.
  • Your film choice, the date-stamp setting, your shooting streak and your progress toward unlocking films. Stored locally on your device. We run no server that receives them.

Information Collected Through Advertising

The App shows ads served by Google AdMob: one banner under the photo grid in the gallery, and rewarded ads you can choose to watch to unlock films. To serve and measure ads, Google's advertising software inside the App may collect from your device:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (the iOS IDFA or the Android advertising ID), or another device identifier if you have not allowed use of the advertising identifier
  • Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and tapped
  • An approximate location derived from your IP address
  • Diagnostic data such as crashes and performance

Google collects and processes this information under its own policies, not ours. We do not link it to anything in the App, because the App has no name, email address or account for it to be linked to, and your photos never leave your device through the App. How Google uses data from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • No name, email, phone number or account data. The App has no sign-in.
  • No copies of your photos. The App does not record video or audio.
  • No contacts and no precise location.
  • No analytics SDK of our own.

Other Automatically Collected Information

  • Install, crash and platform telemetry that Apple and Google may collect through the App Store and Play Store, governed by their own privacy policies.
  • Crash and diagnostic reports from the operating system, only if you have opted in to share them with developers in your device settings.

Your Choices About Ads

  • Consent form. Where the law requires it (for example the EEA and the UK), Google's consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) asks whether ads may use your data. It appears the first time you save a photo, open the gallery or open a film's unlock screen, not when the App first opens. You can change your answer later in Settings > Ad privacy options, which is shown where the form applies.
  • App Tracking Transparency (iPhone). The system prompt asking whether the App may track you across other companies' apps and websites appears only after the consent step allows it. If you decline, you keep the whole App and see less relevant ads.
  • Rewarded ads are optional. They play only when you tap "Watch ad", and you can close one at any time (it just does not count). Four films are free and every film can be selected without watching anything. Live film previews require a supported device.
  • Device settings. You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier in your device's privacy settings at any time.

How We Use Information

  • To show your photos, your film choice, your streak and your film unlocks on your device.
  • To show the ads that keep the App free.
  • To answer support requests you send us by email.

We never sell, rent or trade your photos or app data, because we never receive them.

Third-Party Services

The App includes two third-party services: Google AdMob (the banner and rewarded ads) and Google User Messaging Platform (the consent form). It includes no separate analytics SDK and takes no payments. Apart from the ad requests above and the standard crash and diagnostic reporting your operating system may send to Apple or Google, no data leaves your device. Opening the Privacy Policy, Terms or Contact page from Settings loads apps.peppertree.so in your browser.

Data Storage and Security

  • All app data is stored locally on your device. Photos are also saved to your photo library.
  • The App does not sync to any cloud service.
  • Uninstalling the App removes its local data from your device. Photos saved to your photo library stay there until you delete them.
  • Data collected by Google is retained under Google's policies.

Your Rights

  • Uninstalling the App deletes its local data from your device.
  • We hold no personal data on our servers, so there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf.
  • To exercise rights over data Google holds, use your Google account and device privacy controls, or Ad privacy options in Settings where it is shown.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy by changing the Last Updated date above. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept it.
